The ceiling heights varied across all the cities, ranging from 3.0 metres to 6 / 7 metres in the highest location, such as the Liffey Valley installation, where we mounted a drop pole and our counting device to cover the full width of entry & exit points.

Our highly accurate AI 3D devices were efficiently and successfully installed across all the locations listed above, calibrated and set up, connected to the network, allowing access at the Head office, where the V9 Retail Analytics graphical and reporting was delivered to the customers via an online portal.

AI 3D Max

Artificial intelligence crowd counting and analysis

Shopping malls are now capitalising on our smart technologies to boost sales conversion rates and revenues and enhance customer journeys for more compelling and satisfying shopping experiences. Footfall counting and retail data analytics are the secret weapons some shopping malls are wielding to remain competitive in the digital economy.

Shopping Mall operators need vital information to allow them to maximise the operational efficiency and profitability of their assets. Retailers use this data to identify how many people entering their stores turn into paying customers – i.e. their conversion ratio.

Footfall and sales conversion ratios are key performance indicators, showing how well a retail outlet itself is performing, as well as individual retailers. Smart Urban Sensing Limited recognised the potential value of such insights in helping to strengthen their operational activities, including the ability to set rental rates, assess the success of marketing campaigns and align staffing levels to customer footfall.

By installing AI 3D footfall counters at every entrance of a shopping mall, users will be able to gauge the total number of visitors that visit the mall. Utilise door counting to determine the transportation mix shoppers utilise to enter the mall. With time-stamped analytics, visualise the peak hours of your shopping mall and run marketing campaigns when during this time to engage the most shoppers.

Smart Urban Sensing people counting solution helps you to plan staff and security personnel schedules according to visiting trends. Smart Urban Sensing people counting solution helps get the complete picture of people traffic across the building per different floors. It gives you the opportunity for shopping malls to plan rent costs according to people’s traffic intensity in different zones or floors, track people’s responsiveness to your marketing activities, and pick up the most effective marketing channels. Smart buildings and shopping malls can adjust lighting, heating, ventilation according to visiting trends to reduce electricity costs.

Shopping malls are hubs of community activity. Customers are drawn inside by opportunities to take part in shopping, food, entertainment, and special events. Though you likely have a general idea of your mall’s traffic, understanding how customers use the facility can be more difficult.  To make wise business decisions that help your mall thrive, you need data about your customers and their experience at your location.

A footfall counter from Smart Urban Sensing Limited can help you improve your mall’s customer experience and raise revenue.

Benefits of retail analytics & AI 3D Smart Urban Sensing devices

Justify the Rental Rate of Your Retail Stores

Smart Urban Sensing helps businesses to track the footfall traffic across multiple stores, evaluate the performance of your store compared to similar retail stores by benchmarking your sales opportunities with the industry average, utilise the business metrics to identify top and least performing stores and use this as a base point to improve your business as well as optimise the staff allocation.

Shopping malls rely mainly on rent from their tenants to survive, while tenants rely on malls to provide spaces that attract customers. The mutually beneficial relationship between shopping malls and tenants is key to effective tenant revenue management.

Shopping malls can now use traffic flow, heat map analysis, and footfall count data and analytics to assess where the most popular areas are to install flagship stores and high-revenue vendors and charge them a realistic rental based on verifiable data.

Measuring the Marketing Effectiveness

Determine the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by monitoring the campaign effectiveness with the measurements for: Visitor Count, Outside footfall passer by Traffic, Turn In Rate, Visit Duration, Transaction Count, which maximise marketing by strategically placing advertisements.

Marketing and sales initiatives are meant to increase footfall and revenues, but they don’t always work. To effectively measure which initiatives draw in the most traffic and achieve the most significant returns on investment, shopping malls can optimise their marketing and sales strategies always to implement what works best.

Visualising the Shopping Behaviours of Your Shoppers

Understand how your shoppers enter the mall and which entrances gain the most usage, so you can set up advertisements along these entrances to gain the most exposure.

Optimising Staff Allocation based on Actual Footfall

People counters can be placed at entrances to restrooms to provide a clear view of how resources are being used. Management will be able to identify which restrooms are being underutilised or overflowing with people. By measuring the usage of facilities in the shopping mall, management can create staff schedules that accurately reflect the condition of the restroom, with busier areas receiving more attention.

Shopping mall layout and design

By observing traffic flows and dwell zones throughout a shopping mall, you can gain insight into which entrances, exits, and areas are preferred by customers, and which aren’t. Footfall counting devices can be placed anywhere in a shopping mall to track customers entering different areas, follow traffic flow patterns, and measure how much time they spend in certain areas. With this intelligence at your fingertips, you can optimise the store’s locations and place information desks, pop-up stores, and advertisements in strategic places.

Shopping malls’ responsibility is to ensure that social distancing and occupancy levels within their establishment are maintained. Footfall counting and tracking technology can measure the distance between people and the occupancy levels throughout the mall. Automatic alerts can be set up and triggered when the minimum distance or occupancy count is exceeded. These alerts can be communicated to shoppers via live video streaming displays to control occupancy and distance.

Resource allocation within shopping malls

Shopping malls can save money on resources by using footfall counting and analytics data to identify peak hours, days, weeks, and months and only allocate resources when and where they are needed. Energy consumption can also be minimised in areas that receive little to no traffic by automatically powering down lighting or temperature control systems when the occupancy count for a room is zero.
